Poor little Jerry always had it rough
Always blue, he didn’t smile too much
But when he turned 15
He had enough and decided to leave
Run away from the things he’d seen
The heavy hurt and pain that runs so deep
So he packed a bag and got on a train
Going north, headed straight to the bay
With plans to get a job and start a band
He never knew that things would get out of hand
Well Jerry got a job and he got his band
He even got a girl with an awesome pad
But little Jerry started drinking way too much
He lost his girl, lost his band and had to pawn his drums
There was no way he could ever survive
That city chewed him up and ate him alive
So when he turned 18
He had enough and decided to leave
Run away from the things he’d seen
The heavy hurt and pain that runs so deep
So he packed his bag and got on a train
But he didn’t crawl home, no way
He had other plans in L.A.
And then he learned he had to pay to play!
